Very disappointed in this product. Such a shame for the Cuisinart name to have such defects in their product.



My order arrived with deep manufacturing defects on the non-slotted spoon handle, quite an eyesore, as I am very picky how my kitchenware looks. Amazon immediately sent a replacement. The replacement set also had a defect in the non-slotted spoon. Again, I was very, very disappointed. I returned both sets for full credit.



The weight of the set was nice. The set at first glance was very pleasing, but once I saw the spoon I was a very unhappy camper for the price I paid for this kitchen tool set. I will not buy another set.

I like these. They do what they're supposed to. As with any stainless you should hand wash if you don't want water spots, but they come right off when you hand wash again later.



They're pretty expensive considering their use, but they match my stainless Cuisinart pot and pan set very well.

This isn't your mother's cookbook. It does have an appetizing, varying selection of high-end recipes, some of which use expensive ingredients, i.e., saffron, truffle oil. The author likes to use very hot peppers and includes jalapenos, habeneros, and/or Scotch bonnets =whew!= in some recipes. Too many for me. Personally, I can't tolerate that kind of heat on my palette, but to be fair there are a number of other recipes that sound very much worth trying, and most are suitable for special mealtimes. I take exception to his including the recipe for Applesauce for Adults, which sounds really good, but requires unnecessary work peeling, coring, seeding, and chopping of apples that could well be eliminated by using a simple foodmill. The book is sprinkled with some attractive but not spectacular photos, and there isn't one for every recipe, but I don't think that is particularly important. Since I have a Bamix immersion blender with 4 blades: meat chopping, whisking, aerating, standard mixing, plus the mini-processor attachment (wonderful for small amounts like two tablespoons of sun-dried tomatoes), I am disappointed that no mention or use is made of any accessories other than the standard mixing blade as Steele considers them "fairly useless." I disagree and think the "extras" can help reduce the redundant use of other utensils, all of which need to be washed. Because of this, instruction section of the book doesn't enhance the use of my hand blender, since I already know how to puree or chop something with it in a bowl or pan. I've scored this 3 stars for its obvious limitations.

The recipes are interesting but complicated. I was looking for a simple approach to recipes that I could use with my new immersion blender--stuff like how to make a wonderful smoothie. Not much information on the varieties of use of the immersion blenders with their attachments.

Not a cookbook for whipping up something in 5 minutes. However, some of the slow cooked recipes can be done overnight. Out of the many cookbooks that I have, this one is a staple in my menu planning. Every recipe I have tried has been outstanding and some of the cooking principles I have been able to apply to other dishes.

I have tried three recipes from this book so far. One was good and the other two was great. The Corsican pork chop recipe was especially good.



This book is not aimed at slow cookers, but some of the recipes are well suited to that cooking method.



I didn't see any major typos or missing steps, but I have the hardcover edition purchased used.

With great anticipation I ordered this book with the hopes of creating some wonderful dinners. The first 3 recipes all contained typos. As I read others there appeared to be missing info. In short, I don't trust this book. I called Wiley publishing and left at least one message but no one has called back. I sent an email to Paula Wolfert through through her webmaster but have heard nothing. I will never buy another book published by Wolfert and I'll think twice about anything by Paula Wolfert as well. If you want another cookbook containing braised lamb, I'd suggest Welcome to My Kitchen by Tom Valenti. If you have any questions you could probably ask him personally by calling his restaurant, Ouest, on Manhattan's Upper West Side. At least someone would respond to you.



If I could return the Wiley book today I would but I never tried to return a book I purchased at Amazon.com - I suppose there is a way.

It can be no mistake that this book is addressed to the passionate cook. As others have stated, most recipes are labors of love, requiring hours and often days to complete. This passionate cook states emphatically that they are worth it.



Those who dislike or are not willing to devote the time and patience and sometimes lengthy ingredient lists needed to create her dishes should look elsewhere for cooking inspiration - this book is not for them. If, however, you have the time, passion, and slower outlook and lifestyle which are the hallmarks of Mediterranean cooks, then this book is a jewel.



I will single out a few recipes of the many I have made and the one I come back to time and again is the Gazpacho With Melon. I have never tasted a more beautifully complex cold soup. Both light and deep, it sings on the tongue and will dazzle anyone lucky enough to taste it. Spicy Mussels with Herbs and Feta Cheese and eaten like a soup are the only way I serve mussels now. Greek and Moroccan lamb stews, braised veal, slow-cooked duck and chicken - every recipe delights.



This book takes me back to time spent around the Mediterranean, time that was slower, more fully experienced, and far better flavoured than anywhere else. Time filled with passion :)

This book is so much fun to use, and is gorgeous to look at. Having projects that you can do with your child by just going to the kitchen and using tools and food you already own is such a fabulous idea. So many project books for kids require items you have to go out and get especially for the project --- not very convenient for spur of the moment fun. This book makes it easy to be spontaneous. And you'll have as much fun as your child! My eight year old and three year old both love it.



I highly recommend this book!
